In total, there were more than 150 awards given in 90 different categories at our October 27^th event held at the Sheraton Premiere in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Jane Lyons, a principal of Lyons & Sucher Advertising and longtime member of GALA’s planning committee, said, “The GALA program is the most prestigious residential design, sales and marketing competition in the metropolitan Washington Market. … To win a GALA is considered the ‘Best of the Best.’”

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best Custom Home One-of-a-Kind, The Banks Development Group and GTM Architects built an impressive 6,210 sq. ft. Bradley Hills home in Bethesda, Maryland, from the ground up. Recognized by Home & Design Magazine in their “Portfolio: 100 Top Designers” article, the home features “New England-style with red cedar, copper, and wrought-iron details” and is clearly a must-see new home.

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best Residential Remodeling, Under $500,000, Ardent Homes and James McDonald Associate Architects transformed a modest Cape Cod Colonial on Lost Acre Lane in Great Falls, VA, into  a light-filled retreat with a touch of French Country charm. Before, the home had a cramped entry foyer and living room. Ardent Homes and James McDonald Associate Architects updated the kitchen and owner’s suite, added a family living space on the rear of the home, and opened up living room walls to give the foyer a larger feel.

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best One-of-a-kind Custom Home, up to $1.5 million, R&R Custom Homes’ Congressional Manor home located in Bethesda, MD, features an arts and crafts design. R&R Principal Rick Sullivan said “It is truly an honor to be recognized by our peers in the industry.”

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best Interior Merchandising of a Condominium, Three Bedroom, Foulger-Pratt Companies’ Oxford 1002 model at Park Potomac Place was designed by Hartman Design Group, Inc., and was described as a “true example of the high standard of luxury living set by this new upscale community.” Hartman Design Group, Inc. worked meticulously to exceed expectations on this outstanding condominium home.

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home, 4801 to 6,000 sq. ft., the Wormald Homes’ Le Beaux model in the River View Estates at Worman’s Mill was decorated by Carlyn & Company Interiors and features old world architecture with high-grade finishes and 4,747 square feet of living space, all on a ¼-acre lot.

Winner of the 2010 GALA Award for Best Interior Merchandising of a Detached Home, 3,801 to 4,800 finished sq. ft., Stanley Martin Homes’ Amherst model, decorated by P FOUR, in Greene Mill Preserve is one of the builder’s most popular home designs. The Amherst features a sensible design with great flow, including a large kitchen, spacious family room with a cozy fireplace, and a library in place of a traditional formal living room.
