What is GALA “Home of the Year?”

Each year, builders, architects, designers, and marketers from across Maryland and Virginia submit their work to compete in the Great American Living Awards. In this industry competition, awards are given in many areas including interior merchandizing, home design and architecture, best industry web site and ad campaign, and sales achievement. Judging is a peer review; the judging committee is composed of industry experts at the top of their professions.

Though there are many honors bestowed at the GALA Awards, the winners of Grand Awards are the elite. A Grand Award is given to one home, community or industry professional that has distinguished themselves among all entries; the Grand Award recipients are the best of the best.

Home of the Year, a Grand Award, is given to one home in each of three types (attached, detached, multi-family). The category spans all price ranges and lot sizes, and the winner of the award has been judged to have the best architecture and interior design/merchandizing among all the submitted entries of that home type.

What does that mean? It means that top experts in the area building industry have judged the Home of the Year to be the best in the market. A Home of the Year is spectacular; a truly special home worth seeking out, touring, and living in.
